Impact of Increased Tire Pressure on Fuel Consumption and Environment for Fuel-Cell-Assisted Shared Bicycles

This study evaluated the use of a fuel-cell-assisted bicycle (H-bike) in sharing. Two pertinent issues arise. First, number start-stops and distance traveled lead to power consumption levels so high that they exceed those households. Second, H-bikes are 3 kg heavier than conventional bicycles. Reduction rolling resistance due increased tire pressures may afford solution these problems. The purpose this was investigate whether increasing pressure can reduce amount energy consumed eliminate impact weight. Energy with bicycle-riding experiment; net weight on environment following spike assessed. Life-cycle assessment performed using CML model estimate abiotic resource depletion potential (ADP) global warming (GWP). Results showed reduced fuel bicycle-sharing systems by more 10%. 3-kg gain did not affect consumption, ADP GWP were approximately 10% 20% lower for H-bike. Thus, have environmental benefits bicycles, considering sharing makes sense.
